Since opening in Atlanta in 2004, Dance 101 has become the country's largest dance studio for adult students (ages 16 and up). Our 10,000 square feet of beautifully appointed intown space serves more than 12,000 students with 120+ diverse weekly classes at all levels, taught by 38 professional dance instructors.

With Dance 101, students in the southeast can experience the same level of instruction and cutting-edge classes that used to be available only in L.A. and NYC. Classes range from innovative, Atlanta-influenced "A-Town Funk" to "Off Broadway" and tap classes inspired by The Great White Way.

In addition to our staff of accomplished, professional-dancer instructors, Dance 101 offers, for the first time in the southeast, frequent master classes with highly sought-after, reknowned instructors and choreographers from all dance disciplines -- from Mandy Moore (choreographer for So You Think You Can Dance and Celine Dion) to Matthew Rushing (principal dancer with The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater) to Travis Payne (choreographer for Michael Jackson).

And unlike studios in NYC and L.A., our master classes are open to the public. We are the only dance studio in the country to offer experiences of this caliber to the non-professional dance community. Says Dance 101 founder and owner Ofelia de La Valette, "It can be a real Fantasy Island experience for a recreational dancer to take a class from a celebrity performer. Imagine taking voice lessons from Pavaroti, or playing guitar with Jimi Hendrix."

Ofelia left a successful career as owner of an insurance brokerage firm to become a professional dancer and instructor. Dance 101 is the fulfillment of her lifelong dream to own the country's largest, most pioneering dance studio for adult students.

Drawing inspiration from and expanding on what's offered at some of the best dance studios in the nation -- from The Edge and Millennium in Los Angeles to Broadway Dance Center and Steps in Manhattan -- Dance 101's distinctive approach and sophisticated aesthetic has introduced accessible "hipness" to the Atlanta fitness scene. Works of local artists grace the walls of the spacious studios and sophisticated lounge areas. 

Because of Dance 101's size, location, and elegant aesthetic, the studio is frequently tapped for castings and television and film tapings including So You Think You Can Dance and Beyonce's World Tour audition. Just as the city's music, shopping, restaurant, hotel, and nightclub scene has evolved, Dance 101 has introduced a new level of urbane sophistication to dance and fitness in Atlanta.
